    This year we have established a significant partnership with Thurrock International Celebration of Culture, TICC. This complements the academic, film and music learning activities at SOAS, University of London. We have also begun associations with Aurora Metro Books and Quercus Books, publishers of Asian writing.

    Every summer SOAS offers an exciting summer school of world-wide music. The course programme is unique, varied and truly multi-cultural. Intensive and inspiring courses, practical workshops, taster sessions and master classes for students of all backgrounds, beginners to advanced, amateur and professional.

    Works of eminent East Asian writers will be brought vividly to life.  Included will be  extracts from British East Asian writers Amy Ng, Daniel York Loh, Joel Tan and Stephen Hoo plus Asa Palomera and Jin Yong’s A Hero Born in the first ever published English translation. Readings produced by Break Point Theatre.

    TICC Hi! Street festival event in Grays presents an intoxicatingly wide range of performances and participatory activities that will transform this public walkway. Be bowled over by music, song, dance and poetry from Indonesia, Africa, Nepal, Singapore and Thurrock; participate in street gamelan, dance, song and painting.

    An international conference and film festival at SOAS and the British Museum for inter-Asia collaboration, dialogue and research on issues affecting people who self-identify as LGBTQ+ or belong to other non-normative sexualities and gender identities in Asia, or Asian diasporas and beyond.
