X.D.G. presents ‘Figure This’.
Curated by the Anglo/Chinese team of Don TakGuy and XiaoYu Dong for CrossDrifts Festival 2017, this inspirational exhibition features a range of paintings, prints and sculptures from some of the most exciting China and international newcomers to the UK’s multicultural art scene.
From brightly coloured screen prints of transgender performers to sublime expressionist paintings, the viewer is probed to think about how art can challenge our preconceptions and how it can help us find the simple moments of beauty in our increasingly frantic and confusing world.
This exhibition which features a specially commissioned work that is inspired by the 100 year anniversary of the journey to France of the Chinese Labour Corps also celebrates the new Silk Road freight train journeys from Thurrock to China and falls under AAAHA’s Britchina bilateral arc.
